Beloved-memory, rememory, and power of the past memory

Beloved wants to hear stories about Denver and Sethe. She has a certain grace when hearing them. Beloved makes them think about their past memories and tell them stories. Beloved also makes them a certain times remember rememories. For Denver in chapter 9 she had a rememory when she is chasing after beloved. Her rememory was when she past her old school. She remebered Lady Jones and Nelson Lord. "She was so happy she didn't even know she was being avoided by her classmates" (120). Her remembering this memory brought on a rememory of Nelson Lord. The question that he asked her the first day. Nelson Lord asked "Didn't your mother get locked away for murder? Wasn't you in there with her when she went?" (123)When being around Beloved she brought and a powerful spell where they either have to remember a memory because she wants to hear stories or something happened when Beloved is around and had a rememory. The power of the past brings back questions and maybe in the future soon answers. At this point the novel is saying that these characters have powerful memories and experiences that have happened to them. Ever since Beloved we have been hearing powerful memories or experiences that Sethe and Denver had in the past. The memories are embraced when something in the present reminds them of their old memories either being a good memory or a bad memory. When a memory is hidden usually a character in the book hides it because they do not wan to talk or remember what happened in the past.
