POWER- Document 4

This document was about The Black Panthers' and their ten-point platform. They requested ten specific different things for their people and the black community. The main parts of this document was that they want freedom, land, bread, housing, education, clothing, justice and peace. The Black Panthers' are stating everything thing they want in order for themselves and their people to become equal human beings. They supported what they want by giving telling everybody why they deserve what they want. The Black Panthers' are not like most people African Americans who just say what they want. They say what they want and state why they want it and give good valid reasons. In the document they give use texts from the Constitution of the United States.

After reading the Ten-Point Platform, how would you summarize the party’s essential message? Do
any of the demands surprise you? What do you agree or disagree with? What do you think people
found threatening?
The party's essential message is telling people that the blacks need to be equal and to do so the government need to follow their ten-point flat form. Most of the demands were not surprising because this is what the black community wants and the only way to get it is by making these ten demands. I agree with all of them except for number 8. 8 talks about all black men need to be free from federal, state, country and city prisons and jails. not all blacks should be freed because some of them had committed crimes and should be in jail or prison. I think people found the whole thing threatening because these men gave valid points and might give people the chance to think about the black community and how the government should make a change and do what The Black Panthers' have demanded.
